Totara Kauri Wakahuia

This wakahuia is carved from native New Zealand wood - the end faces are kauri and wakahuia base and lid totara wood.  Variations of Ngapuhi and Tainui designs were carved onto the sides and lid representing affiliation of two tribes through the union of a couple.  A varnish finish has been applied.
